My review of Allegiant Air

I have flown on Allegiant Air more than a dozen times.  The prices are fantastic,  the service is great.  The employees go above and beyond what the standard carrier provides.  I have had the opportunity to explore incredibly beautiful destinations I thought were out of my reach thanks to their business model. And the best of all is flying back home and knowing your 15 mins from the airport parking lot to your driveway.  I can honestly say I give Allegiant Air and the Punta Gorda Airport five stars.

Who is Allegiant Air?

Allegiant Air (usually shortened to Allegiant) is an American ultra-low-cost airline that operates scheduled and charter flights. As a major air carrier, it is the ninth-largest commercial airline in the United States. Allegiant aims primarily to serve leisure travelers, particularly those in colder northern climates, going to warm-weather tourist destinations such as beloved Punta Gorda, FL.

Founded in 1997 as WestJet Express, it is wholly owned by Allegiant Travel Company, a publicly-traded company with 4,000 employees and over US$2.6 billion in market capitalization. The corporate headquarters are in Summerlin, Nevada, a suburb of Las Vegas.

From America's favorite small cities to world-class destinations, Allegiant makes leisure travel affordable and convenient. With low-low fares, nonstop, all-jet service, and premier travel partners, Allegiant provides a complete travel experience with great value and without all the hassle. Allegiant was founded in 1997 and is certified by the U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) as a "Scheduled Air Carrier" with authority to fly scheduled and charter airline operations throughout the U.S. The Company also has authority for charter service to Canada and Mexico. Allegiant employees are the heart of the Company's business. In addition to their friendliness and professionalism, Allegiant employees receive training that meets all FAA requirements for security, safety, and operations.

"Southwest Florida has been a successful part of our vacation destination offerings for some time," Andrew Levy, Allegiant Travel Company president, says in a statement. "Expanding our base at Punta Gorda Airport will allow us to give more of our markets access to the Southwest Florida coast and offer travelers more affordable vacation options. We are happy to partner with an airport that operates in a low-cost, efficient manner, which allows us to pass the savings on to our customer."

The Punta Gorda Airport is also known as PGD is off I-75 on Florida’s southwest coast between Sarasota and Ft. Myers.  Owned and operated by the Charlotte County Airport Authority, PGD is an important transportation and economic asset for the region, providing hundreds of onsite jobs, space for business and aviation tenants, and more than $1.275 billion in total economic output.

Punta Gorda Airport along with the city of Punta Gorda, share great respect and gratitude to Allegiant air for its service to our residents and their northern loved ones. Plus they play a huge role in making travel affordable and possible to a great many people, who would not even consider traveling due to the logistics and high costs.  The airline has brought in a record amount of passengers to the area.
